The Vinyl

At The Custom Garage we use Genuine Orafol’s high quality Oracal 751 and 951 color selections depending on application.

You may be asking yourself, what do these numbers mean? why should I care?

Well typically most vinyl producers and creatures of vinyl decals or stickers are using vinyl similar to Oracal 631 or 651 which is a ‘calendar’ style vinyl, these vinyls undergo a very different manufacturing process.

631, 651 or calendared vinyl is pushed through rollers and squeezed until it forms sheets. This make the vinyl itself less pliable/ less forgiving on shapes and contoured surfaces, it also has a tendency to shrink over time and crack overtime. This also contributes to the lifespan but does come in at a lower material cost.

751, 951 or cast vinyls (the professional stuff) are of a much higher quality and standard. The vinyl in liquid form is poured to form sheets, this makes its performance in terms of longevity and workability over a multitude of surfaces, from edges to rippled surfaces second to none. You’ll typically see these vinyls being used to wrap cars and boats, It wont shrink or loose its form so it demands are higher material cost.

So please take great satisfaction in knowing that we only use the best
